Some Tips for Making your Wedding Favor Ideas Come to Life

Author: Linda Ellison

If you’re a bride with a creative side, chances are that you have some wedding favor ideasfor your reception already in mind. Maybe you imagine something chocolate and decadent, maybe you have a practical side that you want to express. In any event, if you haven’t already made a decision or a purchase, then how do you go about making those wedding favor ideas of your own come to life? What are some tips and hints, and what are some things to avoid?

Wedding Favor Ideas Should be Unique

There’s nothing wrong with being inspired by a wedding you saw of your favorite celebrity, or a photo in a bride’s magazine, or even something at a wedding you’ve attended yourself. But the bottom line is that your wedding favor ideas need to tailored to your own personality, to the personality of your groom, and the two of you as a couple.

For example, you may have seen a very decadent gift of chocolate truffles being given away at a celebrity’s wedding. Depending on the brand of chocolates, chances are they paid thousands and thousands of dollars for those gifts. Unless you have that kind of money to spend on favors, you may want to scale yours back a bit.

In a case like that, some good wedding favor ideas might be smaller boxes of more inexpensive chocolates. Brands such as Russell Stover or Fannie Mae are very good but are a bit more affordable. The boxes can be wrapped with wrapping paper you get from a store for a festive look. Tie them with some thick silver or gold ribbon and they are now an elegant take-home gift for your guests.

Additionally, you can still tailor your wedding favor ideas to include customized candy bar wrappers for chocolate bars. This trend in wedding favors is one that has really caught fire in recent years, since some of the larger companies offer so many different designs that you’re sure to find one that expresses your personality. For example, if you search on The Knot or Wed Alert, you can find several different types of wrappers being offered. One of the internet’s leading candy bar wrapper companies, www.FavorsAndWraps.com, has over 150 different designs that feature flowers, beach scenes, autumn scenes, art deco designs, fun and whimsical designs, along with some traditional and very elegant ones as well. Whether your wedding favor ideas include something traditional, something fun, or something that celebrates nature, you’re sure to find something just right for you.

Your wedding favor ideas should also incorporate some of the same elements from your wedding, such as the choice of flowers or the colors you’ve picked. For example, if your bouquet is all roses, then of course you would want to use roses in your wedding favor ideas. It would make no sense to wrap your chocolate boxes or choose custom candy wrappers that have daisies or irises as part of their design. Additionally, if your bridesmaids’ dresses and other colors in your wedding are soft pastels, these colors should be reflected in your wedding favors. If you’re a bride that has opted for stronger, bolder colors, then remember this same point. Don’t use traditional wraps with silver and gold for your favors if your bridesmaids are all wearing black or cherry red.

Making Your Own

You may opt to assemble or create your own favors if you can’t find just what you’re looking for, or have a strong creative side and want to do this type of thing for yourself and your guests. In this case, making your wedding favor ideas come to life will take a bit more planning and consideration. It’s very easy to underestimate the time, effort, and money involved in creating your own favors.

For example, if you have the idea of getting foil-wrapped chocolates and placing them in a tulle bag to wrap with ribbon, this can be a very beautiful item. However, have you figured how many guests you’re expecting, and how much wrapped chocolate you will need for that number? How much ribbon will you need? How much time will this take you, and where will you store the chocolate before the reception?

This isn’t meant to scare you off from going through with your own wedding favor ideas, as this can be a great way to add personality and style to your reception. Additionally, there is no end to your options for making these items uniquely you. In the case of tulle bags filled with chocolate, you can skip the ribbon and use strands of crystal beads to tie them for a more elegant touch. Or if you want to express your fun side, choose an oversized Hershey’s Kiss instead. The possibilities are endless.

What to Avoid With Your Own Wedding Favor Ideas

There are some things that should be avoided when considering your wedding favor ideas. For one thing, it’s tempting to simply get whatever you want without any thought or considering of your own budget. It’s easy to think that you can spend what you want since your wedding is going to happen only once (hopefully) in your life, but starting out your new life deeply in debt can only add tension to your relationship down the road.

Additionally, you want favors that are going to match your overall theme and feel of your wedding. Don’t indulge in wedding favors that are fun and funky if your wedding is traditional and elegant. You can find things that are very affordable and still look beautiful at the same time.

And lastly, make sure that your wedding favor ideas are practical and can be accomplished. You may think up some extravagant gift idea that requires hours and hours of preparation and assembly, and assume that your bridesmaids and friends will be willing to pitch in and help, but remember that they may already be somewhat stressed themselves with all the other responsibilities they have for your wedding.

If you keep all these thoughts in mind, you’re sure to find a creative, fun, and elegant way to bring to life your own wedding favor ideas.

Wedding Favors not to Buy for your Wedding

Author: Denise Sanger

Wedding favors have become an important part of the wedding celebration. However, there are some wedding favors your guests will not appreciate receiving at your reception. Lets take a look.

1. Personalized Favors With The Couples Names. Dont get me wrong. Some personalized favors are nice BUT it depends how they are personalized. Wedding favors such as silver photo frames or bells, monogrammed candle favors, and coasters engraved with the happy couples names and dates will never be displayed in your guests home. Why would they? If you are set on personalized wedding favors, choose to personalize the tags or go with a smaller, less expensive personalized favor such as lip balm or note pads. That way you are sure your guests will use and appreciate your wedding favors.

2. Overtly Themed Wedding Favors. For example, did you decide to have an Asian themed wedding or an Irish themed wedding? Thats wonderful and there are many great ways to incorporate your theme into the wedding but leave the favors out of it. Choosing to provide your guests with a themed favor that they dont understand or does not complement their d?r ensures that the favor will go straight into the garbage can when they get home. Choose a more practical wedding favor such as a neutral candle that matches your color theme, a silver bottle stopper or luggage tag. These types of favors are not only practical but elegant as well.

3. Expensive Wedding Favors. Your dream is to have the wedding of the decade. Thats fantastic, but spend your money where it will matter the most to YOU not your guests. By all means provide your guests with a tasteful, elegant wedding favor but unless youre a celebrity, you dont need to spend $10 per favor to achieve that look. Silver wedding favors also look elegant as do wine bottle stoppers. If you are discriminating in your choice of favors, your goal will be achieved.

4. Cheap Wedding Favors. Spend some time looking for a wedding favor that is inexpensive but not cheap looking. Many brides make the mistake of having friends and family make their wedding favors for them. Often this task is rushed to be completed right before the wedding and they look it. There are many wedding favors under $1 or $2 that appear to cost more than they really do. A few great examples are heart cookie cutters, heart bath soaps in a gift box, or sachets.

You want your day to be perfect. Dont choose a wedding favor that will derail your whole plan. Take your time and choose a wedding favor that both you and your guests are sure to love.

Remove the membrane and seeds before using if you want to add just a slight zing to your curry.

Are You Sick and Tired of the Same Old Wedding Favors?

Are You Sick and Tired of the Same Old Wedding Favors?

Author: Linda Ellison

How many times have you gone online to shop for wedding favors and have noticed that every site seems to be selling the same exact items? What gives?

Online retailers are usually reselling items from a drop shipper, meaning a company that manufacturers and ships all the items for them. This is very convenient for someone that sells online as it means they don't need to actually make up the wedding favors, warehouse thousands of them, and do any actual packing and shipping. There are only a few major drop shippers when it comes to wedding favors, so you understand why so many online retailers wind up selling the same items.

However, understanding what's going on behind the scenes with online retailers of wedding favors probably doesn't help you out much when you're shopping. Just because those websites are all getting their products from the same place doesn't mean that you're happy to have the same items as everyone else! So what to do?

If you want unique and personal wedding favors then it's time to think outside the box, as they say. Purchasing favors that you know other people have purchased is perfectly fine but to make them unique to you, dress them up a bit. Get some wrapping paper that fits the theme or tone of your wedding and wrap them individually, tying them with huge ribbon or a big bow. If you are having a more casual wedding, you could get helium balloons on ribbon and tie that around each of your wedding favors for a fun and festive touch. You can also print out a small personal message to your guests and roll them up and slide them under the ribbon of your wedding favors for a great personal touch.

Remember that there are many other options for wedding favors than you might expect. While items like candles and small tins or bags of candy are popular choices, you can use some creativity when choosing items for your wedding. Check your local stationery store for some nice note cards that match the theme of your wedding. Visit a nursery to get some tiny potted plants. You can find small vases or clay pots virtually anywhere, all of which are very affordable. Small wooden boxes you purchase from the craft supply store make for great wedding favors that anyone can use as added storage on a desk or dresser.

Don't rule out personalized candy bar wrappers as wedding favors. There are literally hundreds of designs available and typically you can find something that matches the theme or tone of your wedding, and of course they're usually personalized for free. A nice chocolate bar is something that just about everyone loves, so of course you can't go wrong with these as wedding favors!

Putting some mental energy into your choice of favors is not a chore, but rather it's a fun and enjoyable part of planning your wedding. And remember that your wedding favors are your way of thanking your guests for being there and for sharing in your special day, so that thought and effort is an expression of your gratitude but will also help you to make a decision in finding favors that really are personal and unique to you!

The Versatility Of Chocolate Wedding Favors: Choose The Way You Like Them!

Author: Leah Lee

For many hundreds of years, using chocolate as a wedding favor has been considered a privileged custom. This tradition of giving wedding favors was started by the rich Europeans who had the money to offer sophisticated presents to the guests at the wedding. Initially, wedding favors started out in the form of little artistic boxes which were made up of porcelain, gold or crystal. These little boxes were acknowledged by people as bonboniere and usually they were covered with precious gems. At that time, sugar was quite costly and also had health advantages and so these boxes were used to keep bonbons or any other sweet treats.

The most preferred wedding favor that has been in use even now are Bonbons, chocolates in particular. Of course there have been changes in the traditional bonboniere all through the past centuries. Nowadays, the stylish bonboniere are made from crystal, porcelain, pewter or stainless steel. Moreover, there are different designs to suit the wedding theme or the preferences. White chipboard boxes are the most reasonable ones which can be printed to reveal the conventional wedding themes or they can also have a solid color. For a more sophisticated bonboniere, the exterior can have a foil lamination and also an embossed appearance. Regardless of the design of the box, the main purpose is to conceal an undisclosed present that is inside the box.

Chocolate truffles are enjoyed by most of the people because of their rich flavor and smooth texture. Therefore, a single chocolate truffle or a collection of three will make a very stylish wedding favor or gift. Chocolate truffles are reasonably priced and they can be easily bought from local confectionaries or even online.

It is because of the use of chocolates as wedding favors that regular chocolate bars now have brand names. Using chocolate of a particular brand is considered as declaration of sophistication. Most of the small chocolate firms that provide specially-made chocolates can make a mold that will be carved with the personal message from the bride and the groom. These firms have stock molds to make chocolates coins and bars of a particular theme. They can create three-dimensional chocolate delicacies that are similar to conventional wedding themes, the cake topper of the couple and chocolate pops. These delicacies are made from chocolate that can be of milk, white or dark. The bride and the groom can also have the molded chocolates painted with gold and silver that are suitable for eating.

By filling exclusive and clear containers with candy-coated chocolates, you will get a simple, reasonable and yet a very sophisticated wedding favor. These chocolates can be bought in large quantities and they are available in different varieties of color so as to suit the wedding color plan. The clear containers for the wedding favor consist of clear boxes, organza bags, plastic tubes and glass jars.

By selecting and arranging for a particular chocolate and container, we are still carrying on the tradition of using chocolate as a wedding favor or gift. The couple displays their gratitude by gifting chocolates to their wedding guests. They can make their guests happy at a reasonable cost.

Wedding Favor Candy and Bridal Shower Candy Ideas

By Chris Robertson

One of the hottest wedding and shower favor ideas these days is candy. Personalized candy wrappers with your name and wedding details offer an alternative to the traditional tulle and ribbon wedding candy, the ubiquitous Jordan almond. Whether you choose a bar of Belgian chocolate wrapped in embossed foil or a chocolate candy rose with a personalized ribbon and tag, personalized candy favors are the kind of sweet treat that guests love to take home. Most companies that offer personalized chocolate candy wrappers give you a wide variety of styles and kinds of candy to choose from. A particular favorite with many brides are miniature 1-inch square chocolate candy. Bright foil candy wrappers are stamped with brides, grooms, wedding bells and doves to further the happy couple’s wedding theme. Full size candy bars with personalized wrappers average about $1.75 apiece. For a bit less, you can have your name and wedding date imprinted on Hershey’s miniatures like Krackel, Hershey’s Special Dark candy bars and Mr. Goodbars. A package of 100 miniature candy bars costs about $50. There’s more to personalized candy wrappers than wedding bells, though. How about a chocolate or bubblegum candy cigar to announce the birth of a new child? You can purchase chocolate cigars with personalized candy bands or wrappers in “It’s a Girl” pink and “It’s a Boy” blue from any supplier of personalized candy bars. Nearly any occasion can be marked with personalized candy favors or gifts. Whether you’re looking for candy shower favors or unique, personalized fund raising candy, personalized candy wrappers could be just what you need. Some of the more unique candy favor ideas that we’ve seen are outside the realm of personalized candy wrappers though. One of the most adorable is the bubble-gum buddy bride and groom. Using a full size gumball for a base, the maker uses royal icing to form clothing and features on two of the cutest little wedding favors that can grace your wedding tables. Other candy favor ideas take their cue from the season of the year. Miniature wreaths made of starburst peppermint candy are perfect party favors for the office Christmas party, for example, and candy corn makes great candy fillers for wedding and shower favors at Autumn weddings and parties. Finally, any wedding favor that can be made with candy Jordan almonds can also be made with the quintessential romantic candy of all time – candy hearts. Whether you choose foil-wrapped chocolate hearts or candy conversation hearts for a more whimsical look, how can you go wrong? Candy hearts and romance just belong together – naturally.

The Charm of Homemade Wedding Favors

By Kevin Stith

Homemade wedding favors come from a centuries old tradition of brides and grooms providing small gifts to wedding guests. Every culture across time has treated marriage as a wonderful event with the nuptials celebrated throughout the community. In many cultures the bride and groom are associated with good luck. A common thought among these cultures was, that every thing the couple touched would be charmed. By gifting members of the community, the couple would pass blessings to others for the rest of the year.

Initially all wedding favors were homemade, as the concept of mass produced items had yet to be conceived. Many brides would choose to redistribute their good luck by preparing a small gift of almonds beautifully wrapped in elegant fabric. The custom in the Middle East is for the bride to provide five almonds to represent fertility, longevity, wealth, health and happiness. Today, the candied nut known as Jordan almonds, provides for one of the most common and traditional wedding favors, when they are wrapped in small bundles of delicate fabric.

The gifts a bride might create would be dependent on the culture and materials available. For years European and American women would crochet small bags or stiffen their work to create small boxes that would typically hold fruit, nut or candy treats. Crochet items are still an elegant touch for Victorian or country themed weddings. Today, a bride is only limited to her imagination when it comes to selecting the gifts that will show appreciation from the blessed couple.

The tradition of creating homemade weddings favors has continued as a means for the bride to reduce expenses on the wedding budget. Although today, many quality items can be mass produced for a relatively low cost, brides prefer to create homemade favors as a means of self expression. Homemade favors allow her opportunities for unique gift giving and personalization that can't be found in retail store.

Homemade wedding favors can be labor extensive or have a sense of simple sophistication. Time, talent and imagination are the only limits for the creation of wedding favors. Craft stores offer an extensive variety of materials from which to create a memorable item. Simple glass bud vases and candles can be adorned with paint or glass gems. Ready-to-paint bare wood birdhouses can be adorned to resemble wedding chapels. Something as simple as adding a photo of the couple, to a simple picture frame makes an excellent favor that will outlast the wedding day.

Home computers, desktop publishing software and quality papers make it easy to duplicate products that have only been available from professional printers in the past. Poetry can be added to beautiful backgrounds for unique bookmarks or framed works. Decorative placecards with the guests name in an beautiful script can later serve to replace a boring name placard on their work desk. Software to edit music and video recordings allow for the production of private CD's and DVD's.

Baked goods continue to make excellent wedding favors. Cookie cutters are manufactured in every imaginable shape allowing the bride to present distinctive, frosted and personalized delights. Miniature cakes, petits fours and even chocolates can be recreated in the home kitchen. Plastic molds for forming chocolate and other candies make it easy to produce delicacies that are representative of wedding themes. A fun twist on a common molded candy is to prepare it on a stick to create a lollipop from hard candies or chocolates.

Homemade wedding favors will continue to be a favorite for the bride and her guests. The opportunity to produce an item that genuinely expresses the heartfelt sentiments of the couple, will never go out of style.

Wedding Favors Info provides personalized, homemade, cheap, and unique wedding favors, including chocolate and cookie favors, wedding favor boxes, wedding shower favors, and more. Wedding Favors Info is the sister site of Wedding Invitations Web.

Giving Chocolate Covered Gifts to Those Who Crave Them - Chocoholics

By E.S. Cromwell

Chocolate lovers are truly their own sweetened breed, a group of individuals with a strong and rather religious following that will go to any length to get their chocolate fix. To them, satisfying their sweet tooth is no joke, it's a serious matter - one worth eating, one worth savoring. And the only sweet treat to put smiles on their sweet teeth is none other than - would you guess it? - chocolate.

And whether you consider it scary or you're willing to embrace it, these consumers of mass amounts of chocolate are literally positioned everywhere around the globe. And whether they're public about their coco addictions or are a bit shy to reveal their ties with eating sizable amounts chocolate, they are who they are; as connoisseurs, appreciators, aficionados and so forth. As such, and since these individuals are clearly all about all things chocolate, it would be appropriate to dub them as "Chocoholics."

Who Enjoys Chocolate Treats a Few Times a Day?

Chocoholics do, of course! And what they absolutely never need is a counter-top jar, work-desk drawer or car compartment devoid of any form of a chocolate treat. What they need is a constant supply of chocolate, no matter what type, size or shape. See, what you need to understand is that having no chocolate as a chocoholic is like a standard person going through life without a beating heart. These chocolate-loving individuals live for the taste and feel that chocolate brings them. And for some, I wouldn't doubt the possibility of chocolate being within them permanently, streaming through their veins like blood.

Needless to say, it's clear that chocolate is everything to these passionate chocoholics. And it's not as if it's a negative quality to have. Rather, it's something that makes them simply who they are - chocolate-craving and coco-needing people.

Let The Chocoholics Be - They're Too Sweet To Cause Harm

And why not let these people stay that way, with all their good-natured, sweet-toothed dispositions? By eating chocolate like there's no tomorrow they're not hurting anyone in the process. Eating chocolate treat after chocolate treat, if anything, could make them a bit jittery from the surplus of sugary goodness racing through their bodies. But, that's O.K.; it's just merely them being nostalgic and feeling like a kid again. And if that's the only bad thing occurring, I don't see why these chocoholics should cease their coco love affairs or stop their chocolate-induced smiling.

Feeding The Coco Addiction Through Chocolate Covered Gifts

Feed the addiction and give that one chocoholic or two or more that you know the gift of chocolate. Not only will you be placed on their good side -not saying you aren't there already- but you will also, hopefully, be able to reap the benefits of the coco gift itself. And, as I'm sure you know, there is nothing like sharing the creamy sweetness that is chocolate with a good friend or two.

So, go ahead and give the gift worth giving to a chocoholic. A sweet gesture such as a basket full of chocolate covered gifts is one that will certainly sit well in both the hearts and stomachs of any chocoholic.

Leaving for Your Honeymoon with Wedding Bubble Favors

Leaving for Your Honeymoon with Wedding Bubble Favors

By Jeanette Shinn

Wedding bubbles, and therefore wedding bubble favors, are growing in popularity as they replace rice, birdseed, confetti, and who knows what else from times gone by for use when the bride and groom are departing on their honeymoon and ultimately their new life together. The reason is simple, wedding bubbles don't require sweeping the sidewalk afterwards to prevent the slips and falls that rice and birdseed can cause.

Likewise, the use of wedding bubble favors is fun for everyone. Who doesn't enjoy the momentary reminder of their carefree youth? Watching the bubbles dance on the breeze is fun.

As an added benefit, wedding bubbles are an easy and inexpensive way to add special flair to your pictures of your honeymoon departure! Why? Because, though they are translucent they still have enough substance to catch and bend the light waves around them which will add a real flair to your departure pictures.

Answering Objections to Wedding Bubbles

The most common complaint about using bubbles in a wedding celebration is the concern that the bubbles might stain the formal wear of people celebrating the wedding. This is a legitimate concern, but when that happens it's usually because someone tried to cut corners and buy the bubble solution made for children's play that you can purchase at a discount store. The solution is to buy actual wedding bubble favors. Such bubbles have been formulated specifically with wedding reception usage in mind to prevent such a problem.

Second, people object that a spilled container of wedding bubble solution could cause a hazard that might result in a fall. Of course if you are using it on a marble floor (or some other highly polished surface) it could be true, but as long as you restrict use to carpeted surfaces indoors (with permission, of course), sidewalks, or road surfaces there should not be a problem especially considering that most wedding bubble favors have less than an ounce of bubble solution in each favor.

So don't hesitate. Make full use of wedding bubble favors. Enjoy the atmosphere they provide. Enjoy watching the children dance with delight as they watch the bubbles bounce on the breeze and the magical effect they can have on the pictures of your departure for your honeymoon. Just be sure to buy actual wedding bubble favors and limit their use to surfaces that don't tend to be slippery when wet.

Wedding Favors: Mementos for the Guests at Your Special Day

By Gail Leino

Weddings can be large or small, lavish or simple, and so can wedding favors. Of course things like budgets and the size of the guest list will play a part in your selection of wedding favors, but with a little planning and creativity, everyone can leave your wedding carrying a gift with which to remind themselves of your special day.

Wedding planners, bride’s magazines, and family traditions all play a part in your selection of party favors. Many people who have smaller, informal weddings prefer photographs of the new couple, and small photo albums, personalized with your names and the date of the wedding are good choices as wedding favors, especially when you send photos of the wedding, the guest at the wedding, and honeymoon photos along with your thank you notes. There are many choices at bridal shops, gift stores, and that can be ordered from wedding planners. You can also shop online for great deals on personalized wedding favors, no matter what your budget might be.

Wedding bell place card holders or wedding bells custom engraved as place cards are good, functional wedding favors. Should you choose not to throw rice at your wedding, if you provide the guests with a bottle of wedding bubbles, personalized with a ribbon color coordinated, and embossed with the name and wedding date, can allow you to leave the reception to a shower of beautiful incandescent bubbles.

Everyone loves candles, and small votive candles in tins engraved with your names and wedding date can be inexpensive wedding favors anyone will enjoy. Packets of flower seeds can be ordered, and come with the names and date of the wedding, to be given as wedding favors. This is particularly touching, and each flower seed package comes with its own special message. For example, SweetPeas seeds are especially appropriate as wedding favors and come with this saying on the package: “Traditionally flowers are grown with the belief that they create a special bond between each of us which is never broken. Sweet Peas in particular symbolize lifelong pleasure and happiness.

It would be an honor if you would please accept and plant these Sweet Pea seeds in upholding this cherished tradition." If you get lucky, you might even return from your honeymoon to discover that some seeds had been planted by loving hands in your own flower garden as a special good luck wish for your future. No matter what you choose to give as wedding favors, just remember that it is not so much the gift itself as it is the spirit in which the gift is given that makes wedding favors so special.

High Quality Edible Wedding Favors Worth Your Celebration

By Jeanette Shinn

There is little in life that is sweeter and more savory than a good marriage. You want something to reflect that – edible wedding favors do. High quality edible wedding favors are a great way of announcing to your guests your appreciation that they chose to spend your wedding day with you while allowing them a symbolic taste of the sweetness and goodness of your budding relationship.

Besides the rich taste that these delectable favors offer, edible wedding favors have the advantage of fitting into nearly any theme in one of three ways: First, they can fit into theme of your wedding simply because they are food. It's true. Society doesn't hold the same standard to food – and especially treats – that it does everything else. Where an ice cream scoop might look out of place at an elegant crystal wedding reception, well chosen edible favors such as a hand dipped biscotti or an imported Belgian chocolate would not.

Edible Wedding Favors are Flexible to Match Your Wedding Theme

Second, edible wedding favors like candle favors can be made in so many different ways that it is easy to find one that will match most any wedding theme or style. Planning an Asian themed wedding? Give your guests chocolate dipped fortune cookies. Having a beach wedding? Your guests will enjoy sea shell and starfish shaped chocolates or a specialty shaped designer cookie.

Edible Wedding Favors Match Any Budget

Likewise, edible wedding favors are an excellent choice because they offer a wide range of price options. For something extravagant one might choose an artisan's chocolate covered strawberries to give your guests as a favor. On the other hand, one on a tight budget could opt for individually wrapped wedding theme chocolate squares which provide a tasteful treat that is appropriate to the occasion without the cost of a hand crafted item.

Chocolate Almond As a Gift For Wedding Guests

By Catharine Wittich

Ever since the first creation of chocolate almond bars by The Hershey Chocolate Company back in 1908, chocolate almond has hit the world by storm. Favored by most due to its lovely velvety texture of the chocolate with the nutty flavor of the almond, there is no other chocolate that symbolizes love more than a simple chocolate almond, be it an almond bar or chocolate coated almonds.

From its humble beginning as gifts by couples and lovers alike, the chocolate almond has now found reputation as being a popular gift item to guests of newly weds during wedding ceremonies. Originally, simpler chocolates or other form of 'love gifts', such as flowers and candies, were preferred over the chocolate almond due to the pricey nature of chocolate almonds during it's introduction stage. But as years went by, the price of chocolate almonds were reduced and the demand for it as gifts, especially wedding gifts, increased tremendously.

As simple as it is, the humble chocolate almond is not a chocolate to be looked down upon. Almonds are well known for its safe properties and are favored by lactose intolerant people, vegetarians, and those with nut allergies, but bearing in mind that getting the wrong almond may result in poisoning. Once the sweet, nutty almond is combined with the velvety texture of chocolate, a perfect blend from heaven above is made on earth. Suitable for all aged guests and loved ones, and reasonably priced as gifts, chocolate almonds are bound to be one of the world's most popular wedding gift for many years to come.

Catharine Wittich owns a site where she sell wedding favors during the summer month.

Wedding Favor Boxes

By Sarah Page

Whether you go with an edible treat (like brownies, cookies, candy or chocolate) or a little treasure to give your guests for a favor, you need to buy something to put that favor in. This can range from small paper or fabric bags to small gift boxes to tulle. Traditional favors use tulle as the material that the bride will put the favor and then she ties a ribbon and card to the bundle.

You can get as creative as you want and let your imagination run wild when you make your favors. If your favor is an edible treat, you will need to cover it somehow, so you might want to put it in a gift box. A small glass or gift box is absolutely perfect for those edible treats.

For wedding favors, there is an emporium of information online. You can order bulk wedding favor supplies as well as cheap, pre-made wedding favors. If you search online for wedding favors, there are tons of web sites that will supply you with everything that you need to know to make sure that your wedding favors are perfect. You are not in this alone.

There are many different ways to improvise when it comes to creating a wedding favor box. For instance, you can take a take-out Chinese box, decorate it, and use it. Many people use this rather absurd idea and it works great. If you decide to give wedding fortune cookies, then look no further for a better idea!

Plastic bags are also a great way to host your wedding favor gifts. These little bags can be easily decorated and cheap. Some common items to place in these bags include soaps, candles and even edibles. A bag is easy to carry, pack and save money, but if you are considering a more extravagant wedding favor idea, consider glass jars.

If you are considering to offer flowers as a gift for your guests, why not put them in a small vase with a bow tied around it? Keep in mind that if they are real, then you need to have water to keep the flowers alive. This is just one example of how proper packaging should be in congruence with your gift items.

As you can see, there are many different approaches to creating wedding favors. You can be as simple or complex as you would like. Just make sure that whatever wedding favor you decide to have your guests part with, that it says that they had an enjoyable experience and will remember it forever.

Wedding Favors - Ideas, Tips and Trends

By Cori Russell

No, they're not mandatory, but wedding favors are a great way to thank your guests for sharing in your celebration! They're also a fun little extra to tie in the style of the occasion.

Today, almost anything goes. And just like the rest of the event, wedding favors should reflect the personality of the bride and groom. Not sure where to begin? Browse this wedding favor guide for everything you'll need to know in presenting this wonderful little detail with the utmost of style.

What to Give -

Some of my favorite wedding favor ideas and trends include:

Edible Treats

Everyone loves something to eat, so delight your guests with something sweet or savory. Chocolates, almonds and candies are always popular. Or give a regional favorite from your wedding location: peanuts in Georgia, Vermont maple syrup, or hot salsa in Texas.

Something Homemade

Along those lines, test your culinary skills and make a homemade jam or spread for your guests (package them in festive customized jars!).

Quench their thirst

If your budget allows it, wow your guests with a nice bottle of wine, whether a selection served at the wedding or from a local winery. If you're really ambitious, consider making your own, and stamp it with a personalized label. This is one of my favorite wedding favor ideas, but plan ahead - this must be done at least 3 months in advance.

Entertain Them

Give your guests something that will forever remind them of your wedding day. Nothing brings a person back to a special moment quite like a song. So make a wedding playlist, and feature songs from the ceremony and reception. Getting married in a place known for a great music scene? Feature selections from local artists. Or if the two of you just love music and want to share your tastes with your guests, make a cd of your favorites. Every time they pop it into the player, they'll think of you and what a great time they had at your celebration.

Personalize it

These days, almost any item or trinket can be personalized, so think of something creative that goes along with your wedding theme, and stamp it with your initials or wedding date. You name it; someone can customize it - golf balls, koozies, ornaments, seashells, matchbooks, candles or soaps. You're only limited by your imagination. I've even seen fortune cookies filled with personalized fortunes!

Give something back

Another one of my favorite wedding favor ideas: Some brides are foregoing the traditional favor altogether, instead making a donation to their favorite charity. You can print nice cards that read "in lieu of a favor, a donation has been made to xyz charity." Just be sure your chosen charity is legitimate, and get a receipt for tax purposes.

How and When to Give them -

Wedding Favors are all about presentation. A few m & ms can be the epitome of panache when wrapped in a pretty package. Choose packaging that matches or complements your wedding colors and table decor. Matching ribbons and personalized logo stickers or favor labels always add a nice touch. Depending on the favor you choose to give, the choice of packaging may be obvious. If not, consider these fun options:

• Mini Chinese take-out boxes (or any miniature box decorated to reflect your wedding style)

• Miniature canvas bags (printed with your monogram or wedding logo!)

• A Seashell

• Customized bottles or jars

• Miniature baskets

• Small Julep cups

• Mini Terracotta pots

In determining just how and when to present them, you also have some options. Set up a table and display them along with a card that says "Please take one" or "Thank You." (this makes for a lovely photo opp!). Or make your favors part of your table décor and place one at each place setting. A waiter or coatroom attendant can also hand them out at a designated time. Some couples even add the extra special personal touch of distributing them personally to their guests as they leave the reception. However, due to timing and logistics, this method is best saved for smaller weddings.

What They'll Cost -

Remember, favors are simply a nice gesture to cap off a successfully planned and fully considered event. They need not drain your budget. Expect to spend around $1 per guest on the low end, and just like any other element of a wedding, costs can always creep up to suit your wildest imaginations (hmmm - the diamond encrusted Tiffany picture frames sure sound nice).

If budget is a concern, you don't necessarily need to cross favors off of your expense list. Food and candy items are often inexpensive and always popular. Or round up your family or bridesmaids for a fun night of homemade favor-making. Even if you have your heart set on a high-end item, save by giving one gift per couple, placed between their dinner plates and tagged with the couples' names (of course, your single friends will each still receive one). Or get two things for the price of one, and ask your florist to create centerpieces that can be split into tiny bouquets for your guests to take home.

Just like everything else in the wedding planning process, if you would really like to give favors at your wedding, you can always find a way to make it fit within your budget.
